Loaded is this truck and flat bed trailer contracted by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad of Garibaldi Oregon.  The crews below from OCSR and YPRHS spent Friday, 2/17/17 off loading these huge tools which were originally donated to YPRHS in 1993. They once were used to repair and service the steam locomotives in Powers, Oregon and have been kept safe and dry in a box car.  This is but a third of the total 130,000 lbs. brought to Toledo by the then Georgia-Pacific

Trucking company.  The remainder, even larger equipment, has been cared for and sheltered by Rich Cullison in Yachats and at some point will also be moved to a new OCSR facility to be set up for public display under the direction of Scott Wickert.   The original plan was for YPRHS to do just that.  Our thanks to G-P for all their assistance and especially pro forklift driver Mike Blodgett.

The pictures below show some of the equipment while still in the boxcar.  The larger pieces had been placed on pallets when they were loaded back in ’93.  Look closely at the forklift above loaded with five jacks to lift a railcar.  A couple of them weighed upwards of 300 lbs. apiece!  Those railroad workers must have been huge.  We have      been invited by  the crew of the Oregon Coast RR to come up and help with being car hosts once they start their        summer excursion season.  Schedule at (503) 842-7972.
